I had an awesome walleye fishing trip last week. It was a new experience as we were fishing at night! It was a great way to beat the heat and the fishing was great.
I got to do some fishing on the west side of the state last week, as the guest of the hosts of The Outdoor Line, which is a sports fishing broadcast, and I got to go on the air live with them.
A small summer run salmon fishery opened in the area this week but hopes for additional fisheries this summer are diminishing. Fortunately, there are a lot of great opportunities for anglers throughout Central Washington and Northern Idaho.

The Fourth of July Holiday weekend may be the biggest one of the year, in terms of the number of families that head out for some fun in the outdoors.
The big news this week was the announcement of the closure of sockeye fishing on the Columbia River. This is something that is extremely disappointing to anglers. The sockeye fishery is extremely popular. There is still a chance that there will be enough sockeye returning to Lake Wenatchee for a season.
My freezer was just about empty of walleye so I made a couple of trips last week to see if I could replenish my supply.
The big news in my area was the closure to sport fishing for spring Chinook on the Icicle River, and the opening of fishing to the tribes.
I had a very interesting week. I have been keeping track of the opening of the Icicle River spring salmon fishing, plus travelling to Clarkston, Washington to the Thunder Jet production facility.

If you are like me you have had to cancel some fishing plans due to weather. Even though it was going to be rough, I went out on Moses Lake last week.
There are some fun derbies going on at Rufus Woods Reservoir, plus the Columbia River at Crescent Bar and you can still get in on the action.
I had a very fun time fishing this past week. I had a chance to fish for walleye, rainbow trout, brown trout and even caught a nice largemouth bass.
The weather was clear but chilly for the opening day of trout fishing in my area. Wind hampered some efforts, but I saw plenty of people enjoying the fishing and things look good for continued great trout action on the lakes in the region.
When out and about last week I saw a lot of anglers fishing various waters. Although the weather was rainy and cold at times, it didn’t keep them from enjoying trolling or fishing from the banks of local lakes.
I had an exciting week, driving over to Hayden, Idaho and meeting with my new boat sponsor. Just one of many good things that have happened for me this spring.
It is great to see so many people out enjoying the spring weather. There are families fishing the year-round lakes and boaters looking for trout and walleye on the big reservoirs in the region.
I was out and about this past weekend and I saw anglers everywhere I went. There was great turnout for the Quincy Chamber of Commerce Trout Derby on Burke and Quincy lakes, and I saw a lot of fly fishers on Lake Lenore and Dry Falls Lake on my way up to Coulee Dam. The parking lot was packed with trucks and trailers at the Northrup launch on Banks Lake.
