Spokane Valley Council Notes: February 24 Meeting Recap

February 26, 2026

The City Council participated in a budget workshop on Tuesday, Feb. 24 to kick off discussions about the 2027 city budget. The regular 6 p.m. Council meeting was canceled due to the daytime workshop.

At the workshop, city staff shared budget-related information to help inform the Council’s discussion. No Council action was taken during the workshop.

After the Council reviewed their budget priorities, much of the agenda included reviewing the city’s nine public safety interlocal agreements, with the largest being law enforcement. In addition, staff presented information about the need for a public safety coordinator, options for increasing business licenses to be more aligned with neighboring cities, information about current city events and proposals for the city to take on additional events, and ideas for presenting budget priorities.
