SPOKANE — Spokane Indoor Karters will present a Winter League racing series at Fastkart Indoor Speedway in Spokane.
The five-event series has already started with its opening race Oct. 13 and has remaining dates, all on Tuesdays, Nov. 17, Dec. 15, Jan. 19 and the season finale Feb. 16. The November and January races will run the Fastkart Track in a “backwards configuration” or counterclockwise.
“Backwards configuration brings a fresh perspective on Fastkart that most normal don’t get an opportunity to run,” explained racer and one of the event organizers, Andrew Zimmer.
Drivers can test their abilities with braking, smoothness, and consistency, Zimmer added. “Backwards configuration is a lot more technical from a driver’s perspective.”
The final race will feature 1.5X points and a 60-lap main event, so the championship battle can come down to the very last lap.
Additionally, drivers never know which kart they will race, Zimmer explained. “It’s a random draw from a hat,” Zimmer said. “No one is allowed the same kart twice forcing everyone to adapt and push with whatever they got.”
There are two race classes, Light for drivers under 210 pounds and Heavy for 210-plus. Zimmer is the defending Light class champion and Jacob Garrett won the 2025 heavy title.
Whether you’re brand new to league racing or you’ve been racing with us for years, everyone is welcome. Race entry is $85 with $10 going to the prize pool.
Registration takes place 5:30 p.m. on race night with drivers meeting at 6:20 and qualifying at 6:30.
A series of practice dates take place on Wednesdays, Nov. 11 (backwards), Dec. 9, Jan. 13 (backwards) and Feb. 10.
Practice is completely optional, but highly recommended. These sessions are a great opportunity to work on pace, consistency, racecraft, and starts before race night.
The backwards configuration practices are especially valuable, as there are only a handful of opportunities throughout the season to get comfortable running the track in reverse.
