AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Washington (Aug. 31, 2026) — Hundreds of sportsman drag racers from 19 different tracks across the Pacific Northwest — and from as far away as Alaska — will be at Qlispe Raceway for the National Hot Rod Association’s ET Finals, Sept. 3-6.
The racers who compete in a variety of bracket racing classes try to earn spots in the national championships Halloween weekend in Las Vegas.
Bracket racers run with a handicapped start that are supposed to equalize finishes at the end of the race.
NHRA Division 6 officials expect upwards of 600 teams that will run in Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman, Bike/Sled and EV classes.
The track opens Sept. 2 for parking with competition commencing, Sept. 3 through Sept. 6 with racing each day starting at 9 a.m.
The racing does not end on Sept, 6, however as Monday, Sept. 7 is set aside for any rain delay.

Many of these racers will join others from across the West, Sept. 9-12 for the inaugural Northwest Classic West Coast Bracket Racers event.
Four days of racing will feature a USA vs. Canada challenge race paying $12,000 to the winner on Wednesday, Sept. 9 and continue the following days with racing each day paying $10,000 for Super Pro and $5,000 in Pro.
A similar race run in Tucson, Arizona earlier in the season drew in excess of 400 race teams.
This inaugural race is the work of a team of notable event promoters for sportsman racers, Jim Hughes and Chris Forsyth out of Tucson, Arizona. It is patterned to some degree out of the exceptionally successful the West Coast Bracket Races (WCBR) organization and the newest addition.
The WCBR was started by Forsyth in 2015 at the Hughes-owned Tucson Dragway.
