SPOKANE — A father-son duo from a notable Spokane racing family enjoyed a season that ended with them both claiming special honors.
Dayton Bird-Garber claimed the Sunset Speedway Jr. 1 title while Colton Garber captured the Sunset Clone 360 championship.
“This year was our first year (together) running at Sunset Speedway, and we both won the championships,” Colton wrote in Facebook Messenger.
Colton is the son of Dan Garber and grandson of Bruce Garber. Dayton is Bruce and Carol Garber’s great-grandson.
For 8-year-old Dayton this was his fourth season racing at Sunset in Airway Heights. The pair will spilt time in 2027 doing dirt karts as well as running asphalt at Stateline Speedway.
“We’re switching gears to Bandoleros full-time for him and Ministocks for me,” Colton reported.
Garber added, “We greatly appreciate the promoter Dylan and staff for the opportunity to race at such a neat fast track.”
